Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does Besty Search work?

Besty Search uses the power of the Google Custom Search Engine program, which provides advanced site-specific search capabilities.

  • Why do some Etsy items not appear in my search?

Besty Search is completely external to Etsy.com, and does not directly search its database. Instead, it searches Google's records of the individual pages created by Etsy users. This can cause a delay between a page being created and it appearing in a Besty Search

  • Does Besty Search support boolean and phrase searching?

You bet! You are essentially performing a Google search, and can use any of Google's search operators, such as OR, NOT, and phrases enclosed in quotes.

  • Can I link to Besty Search in my blog or on my webpage?

    Absolutely!

  • Can I put a Besty Search box on my webpage?

Yes! Use the Google Gadget code found here

  • Why am I getting odd search results?

Google's Custom Search Engine program is still in beta testing, and will sometimes seem to act a little erratic. If you get odd results, try your search again. If you find something really strange, feel free to convo Dingo.

  • Who is doing this?

Dingo AKA Don Rogerson. I'm just an Etsy user, and not a representative or employee of Etsy, Inc.
